Along with English and Maths, Science is one of the core subjects in primary school. Our Science curriculum is designed to deepen knowledge and develop skills, ensuring effective progression within the subject and across all year groups. We aim to stimulate pupils' interest in scientific phenomena and to foster a sense of awe and wonder. Through this delivery we provide children with the foundations for understanding the world around them. The children love the chance to learn through being totally hands-on and finding things out for themselves, formulating questions which form the basis of their own investigations.
At home, there are several ways in which you could engage your child in Science learning. These include watching the weekly Science challenges which will be posted on your child’s Google Classroom. These will always be practical and easy to set up. In addition, your child’s topic grid will include plenty of ideas for Science learning, which include useful web links. Activities such as baking or participating in exercise (Chemistry and Biology!) increase your child’s understanding of scientific processes, and we will be making lots of links to these in the coming weeks.
