7th January 2019

Dear Parents and Friends

Happy New Year!

Welcome back to the Spring term. I hope that you all enjoyed the last two weeks with your children and have had a happy start to 2019.

One of my New Year resolutions is to design a more eye catching newsletter. Please bear with me whilst I await inspiration!

Staff news

We are delighted to welcome Mrs Sam Watson to the teaching team. Mrs Watson will be teaching in Year 4, releasing Mr Claxton and Mrs Kellaway back to their usual duties.

Assembly changes

A number of parents have indicated that our current assembly times are difficult to accommodate. We have therefore decided to trial a different time for this term. We will be asking you for feedback before the Easter break.

KS2 Class Assemblies will be held on Tuesday afternoons at 2.45pm.

KS1 and Reception Class Assemblies will be held on Wednesday afternoons at 2.45pm.

Assemblies will be finished in good time for parents to collect children in the normal way. Dates for each class assembly will be published in the class letters which you should receive shortly.

Anti-bullying Policy

Please find attached the revised Anti-bullying policy. Please could you send any comments or thoughts to Miss Meredith at by the end of the week.

On-line safety

We have booked the Safer Community Team to come into school to work with Years 2 and 6 on the theme of being safe on line.

We have also asked the team to run a Parents’ Workshop on the afternoon of 16th January from 3.30-4.30pm. This will be in the Oaks Hall and is open to any parent or carer who would like to know more about helping children use the internet safely. Please do join us!

Visit from Children’s Author

On the 17th and 18th of January we have arranged for KS2 to have a writing workshop experience with author C. S. Clifford. The children in years 3,4,5 and 6 will participate in a question and answer session with the author followed by a presentation, an issuing of a writing challenge which will be followed up by class writing workshops linked to the visiting author’s books.

Steve Clifford will also be available to do a book signing at the end of the day. We will send a reminder closer to the time. Please take a look at the following link to learn more about his work;

Reception, Year 1 and 2 Taster Day – Thursday, 17th January

We are pleased to announce that we are able to provide a taster day again next Thursday for all Reception and KS1 children. Every child will be provided with a hot meal on that day which will consist of fish fingers, diced potatoes and beans and lemon drizzle cake for dessert. Any previously ordered vegetarian meals will remain unchanged.

As the weather has now turned colder, please could I ask you to ensure that your child brings a coat to school. Please do remember to mark each of your child’s belongings with their name and class so misplaced items can be returned quickly.

School Closure in adverse weather

Just a reminder that in the event of adverse weather over the coming months, any notification of school closures will be made via our Facebook page and our text messaging service. Please do therefore remember to keep the office updated with your current contact details.

With best wishes

Yours sincerely
