Hillbourne Primary School

Newsletter – 6th January 2020

Happy New Year!

I hope that you all enjoyed the Christmas holidays and that you have had a positive start to 2020.

It was lovely to see the children back in school today. They have returned full of energy and clearly ready to make the most of the learning opportunities their teachers have planned for them!

Staff news

We are delighted to welcome Miss Roxby and Mr Cottrell to Hillbourne Primary School. We hope that they will be very happy with us.

We are also very pleased to welcome Miss Emerson back to school after her maternity leave. Miss Emerson will be working with Mrs Quinnell in 2EQ on Thursdays and Fridays each week.

Mrs Sibley will be taking an extended leave of absence until September 2021. Mrs Williams and Mrs Allisett will continue to work with 5AW until the end of the academic year.

One World Project

This year, we will be working on the One World Project in order to develop our understanding of other people around the world. We will be starting the project with our Year 5 children who will be following a training programme to help them become international ambassadors. In the first week of February, we will be welcoming a group of Chinese students to our school. We hope that our newly trained ambassadors will prove excellent hosts for our guests.

Information for the term

You will shortly be receiving a letter from your child’s class teacher detailing this term’s topic, any trips or visits, Assembly dates and PE days.

Please contact the office if you have not seen this information by next Monday.

Clubs

Please note that all clubs start next week (13th January onwards). If you have not yet signed your child up for an activity, please contact Mrs Godwin via the office.

Packed Lunches

We are very impressed with the effort some parents make to ensure their child eats a healthy lunch. The food a child eats at lunchtime makes a significant impact on their behavior and learning in the afternoon.

If you would like some help or ideas for your child’s lunch box, please pop in to see Jane in the Willow Room.

A reminder please that packed lunches should not contain any nuts or sweets.

School communication

We now have a parent/carer email address for every pupil within school!  This enables us to keep you up to date as quickly as possible with all our news.  We would therefore ask that if you change any of your contact details you inform the office as soon.  If you have any problems receiving emails from the school please check your junk or spam folder or speak to a member of the school office team.
