4th November 2019
Dear Parents and Friends,
Welcome back to the second half of the Autumn term. I hope that you all enjoyed a restful half term break.
Today, we were visited by a Fire Officer who talked to the children about safety on Bonfire Night. Please do take care if you are planning any celebrations involving fireworks, especially with sparklers which are fascinating for all children, but burn at 2000 degrees Celsius!
As usual, we will be supporting the British Legion’s Poppy Appeal. If you would like to buy a poppy, Year 6 pupils will be selling them in the front playground at the start and end of each day from tomorrow.
The weather has now turned a little colder and very much wetter so please do remember to send your child into school with a jumper and coat with a hood. Please do make sure that clothing is clearly labelled with your child’s full name so that it can easily be returned, should it go missing!
Thank you very much to everybody who contributed to our harvest collection. The food was delivered to the Poole Food Bank during the holiday where they were very gratefully received.
We were also very pleased to receive some very thoughtful shoe box gifts for the Rotary Club appeal. If you would still like to support this appeal, please send your box into school before Friday.
Over the half term break, plans to resurface and fence the playground to the side of the Oaks building were postponed due to the weather. This playground will be used during the build so hopefully the sun will be shining sometime over the next few months!
The large Oak tree in front of the main Oaks entrance has successfully been crowned. This will make it easier to use the main gate when we move the entrances after the builders set up their site.
We have been told that the site set up will now be in March 2020 so we will start using the new entrances after the February half term break.
We still hope to be moving into the new school in the Summer term 2021. Fingers crossed!
A reminder, please, that children should have a change of clothes for PE and Games lessons. Our PE kit is black shorts and a white t shirt. Black pumps/ trainers are suitable footwear.
If your child does not have the correct kit, they may be unable to take part in the lesson.
Please ask your child’s teacher or call the office if you are not sure which day your child does PE/ Games.
Dates for your diary
Please find a list of dates for the half term in parent letters.
With best wishes
