26th April 2022

News sheet 26th April 2022

Welcome back to the Summer term! This is the first time in three years that we have been open to all children for three consecutive terms!

We hope that you all had a relaxing holiday and were able to enjoy the sunshine. Although it is feeling a bit colder this week, the sun is still strong so please remember to send your children to school with a sunhat and full water bottle. Please also apply suntan lotion to any exposed skin on your child before sending them in each day.

Covid

Please do not send your child to school if they are unwell. Contact the office for advice if you are unsure.

If your child has symptoms of Covid (temperature, cough or a loss of taste or smell), they should stay at home for at least 3 days. Adults with symptoms should stay at home for at least 5 days.

Staff Updates

We are very sorry to have had to say goodbye to Mrs Godwin. Mrs Godwin is now working as a Legal Cashier for a law firm who are very lucky to have found someone with such an incredible eye for detail. We will miss her enormously.

Miss Emerson has moved to a school closer to home for family reasons. We hope that she will be happy there. Mrs Allisett will join Mrs Williams to look after 5EW until the end of the academic year in July.

Mrs Sheppard is sadly not yet well enough to return to work. We send her our warmest wishes for a speedy recovery.

Building progress

Tremendous progress has been made on the external grounds during the Easter break. The second MUGA is very nearly complete and we expect to be able to use it from the middle of May. This area is flood lit so we hope to be able to let it out to local sports groups from September onwards.

The KS1 playground at the rear of the school has been extended to its full size after the completion of the demolition of the Oaks building. The verges have been seeded so please don’t walk on these areas!

A new trim trail has been set up at the end of our new field. We are hoping that we will be able to turf this area so that the children are able to use the new equipment by half term.

A number of young trees have been planted around the site. Please support us in keeping children away from these areas so we can help these trees start to grow safely.

Value

Our new value this term is ‘Responsibility’.

In school, we encourage the children to take responsibility for their own learning and their actions.

At home, children can impress you by taking responsibility for looking after their possessions, keeping their bedrooms tidy and getting their things ready for school each day!
