Hillbourne Primary School

Newsletter – 22nd September 2020

Thank you for working so hard to help us make the reopening of the school work as smoothly as it has. It has been great to see the children working so hard, having settled brilliantly back into routine.

I think this is going to be a challenging year for us all. Our priority in school is to ensure that we remain open to as many children as possible throughout the school year and we are very grateful to parents who are following both government and school guidance in making sure that children are fit to attend school.

Closure of bubbles-please read!

We are working very closely with the Public Health Protection team to ensure that we make the right decisions over any cases that we may have in the future. They will make the decision about the closure of bubbles. If this happens, we will contact you by text so you can make arrangements to collect your child. You and everyone who lives in your house will be required to self isolate for a maximum of 14 days.

We are confident that our bubble organisation will minimise the risk of full closure at any point. Please do help us by keeping your distance from others, adhering to the ‘rule of 6’ and wearing masks on school premises.

Masks on school site

You will know that there has been an increase in cases of Coronavirus in the local area. We are constantly reviewing our policies to ensure that we minimise the risk of infection in school. We are therefore asking parents to wear masks when on the school site with effect from Monday.

Parents Evenings

We had hoped to organise face to face meetings but have decided that this would not be sensible at the moment. We will therefore be offering parents the chance to discuss how well children have settled back into their learning via Zoom meetings or phone calls over the course of next week. A letter offering appointment times will be sent home tomorrow.

Building update

You will be aware that drop kerbs are being installed this week. This is to allow the large vehicles to access the site.

Please use the pavement opposite the school site whilst this work is completed. It should be finished by this Friday, 25th September.

This week, the builders will finish clearing and levelling the site before starting to dig the foundations of our new building. We expect the first cut to be made today.

Parking

I appreciate that parking has become more challenging now that the building has started. If at all possible, please walk/ scoot or cycle to school. If you do need to park near school, please do not park on the yellow zigzags or on the white lines leading to the pinch points at either end of the school site.
