Dear Parents and Friends,

We welcome the start of the second half term of the year with the news that the new school has been approved by Cabinet. They have recommended that the Hillbourne Masterplan be approved by the full Council and have also agreed to preliminary work starting in the meantime.

There will be a public information meeting in the very near future. This will be held in the school and I will let you know details of date and time as soon as I have them.

The weather has now turned a little colder so please do remember to send your child into school with a jumper and coat. Please do make sure that clothing is clearly labelled with your child’s full name so that it can easily be returned, should it go missing!

We have now heard that Mrs Fogg will be unable to return to school until January at the very earliest. In order to best support the learning of the children in 4LF, we have made the decision to appoint a new teacher to take the class in the new year. Mr Claxton and Mrs Kellaway will continue to lead the class in the meantime, but we look forward to Mrs Sam Watson joining us in January.

We have been delighted to welcome Mrs Angela Rowney back to our team of teaching assistants. Mrs Rowney worked with us for a number of years supporting children in Years 5 and 6. She will now be working in 1EQ every morning.

Mrs Quinnell has made a full recovery and returns to school on Monday. Mrs Quinnell will be taking over from Miss Emerson when she leaves to have her baby. We are very much looking forward to having her back with us.

Harvest goods

A big thank you to everybody who contributed to our harvest collection. We will be taking the gifts down to the Poole Food Bank later this week.

We were also very pleased to receive some lovely shoe box gifts for the Rotary Club appeal. If you would like to support this appeal, the boxes will be picked up on Friday, so anything received before then will be much appreciated.

As usual, we will be supporting the British Legion’s Poppy Appeal. If you would like to buy a poppy, Year 6 pupils will be selling them in the front playground at the start and end of each day from tomorrow.

PE kit

A reminder, please, that children should have a change of clothes for PE and Games lessons. Our PE kit is black shorts and a white t shirt. Black pumps/ trainers are suitable footwear.

If your child does not have the correct kit, they may be unable to take part in the lesson.

Please ask your child’s teacher or call the office if you are not sure which day your child does PE/ Games.

Dates for your diary

Please find a list of dates for the half term attached.

With best wishes

Yours sincerely
