Hillbourne Primary School
Newsletter – 16th December 2019
The last week of the Autumn term is upon us. I hope you are looking forward to the holidays!
We are very sad to be saying goodbye to Miss Bailey and Mrs Watson as they leave us at the end of the week. Miss Bailey is moving to Gran Canaria where she will be working in an international college and Mrs Watson will be relocating to a school in Abu Dhabi. We know they will be much appreciated for their excellent teaching skills in their new schools as they are here.
We will be welcoming Mr Steve Cottrell to 4SW and Miss Paige Roxby to 5EB. We hope that they will feel very welcome in our school.
Christmas with the Aliens
Thank you to everyone who came to see our Reception and KS1 children share the story of Christmas with the Aliens. We were very impressed with the singing, dancing and excellent narration. I hope all parents and grandparents now have their tea towels back!
This week, KS2 will be telling the story of the Nativity through readings and carols. We hope to see many of you there on Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons at 2.30pm. If you have not received tickets and would like to join us, please contact the Oaks Office.
A big thank you to the Heart of Hillbourne for their fantastic organisation of the discos last week. The children behaved brilliantly and all looked to be enjoying themselves!
We were also delighted to welcome Father Christmas into school. The children were extremely pleased that he had made a special journey for them. Thanks to the people who made this visit possible!
A reminder that no clubs will run this week. A letter will be sent home advertising next term’s opportunities before the end of the week. Clubs will start again on Monday 13th January.
The planned start for the building work has now been moved until Easter 2020. This still allows us to plan to move into the new building in September 2021. It will also hopefully coincide with improved weather so that the work can proceed as quickly as possible.
In practical terms, it does mean that we will not be changing the school entrances until February at the earliest so please prepare to carry on as usual!
If you child is unwell please telephone the school office by 9.00am each day they are absent, stating the reason for absence. The answerphone service is available 24 hours a day. If your child has been absent due to vomiting it is not always necessary to keep them at home for 48 hours, please use your discretion. If you think that they are well enough to be in school we are happy to have them.
On Thursday, the children will be celebrating the end of term with class parties. Children are invited to wear their own clothes to school all day.
Please see your class teacher if you need any further information about party food. Please remember to check that you do not send any nut based foods into school.
Big Thank you
We raised a massive £220 for Children in Need and £105 for Save the Children. This was a fantastic amount which will go to very worthwhile causes. Thankyou for your support!
We close on Friday at 1.45pm. School will reopen on Monday 6th January at 8.45am.
I wish you all a very happy Christmas and a peaceful start to 2020.
