At the beginning of the week we had news that Ms Roderick would not be returning to school.  I am sure you will join with me to wish her all the very best for the future and thank her for her support to the community over the last 7 years.

As you are probably aware Miss Toms will be starting her maternity leave from 20th February and we would all like to wish her well at this exciting time.

We are pleased to welcome Mrs Sutalo who will be covering for Miss Toms whilst she is on maternity leave.

Meal Vouchers

We are pleased to confirm that BCP council are able to fund supermarket vouchers for the half term period for those families who are eligible for free school meals.  Vouchers will be issued on Saturday, 11th February 2023.  The vouchers have a value of £15 per child.

If you are worried about food over the holidays, please contact Ms Rumble who will be able to provide you with details of local food banks.

Uniform

Please can we remind all parents to make sure that your children’s clothing is clearly named.  It is then easy to reunite it with its owner.

Illness and Attendance

We are pleased to report that the school’s overall attendance has improved by 2% this term which is fantastic.  Year 6 are our Champions this term with an overall attendance figure of 96.5%.  Who will be our Champions next term? Thank you to all those parents who have made sure their child is in school every day and on time too.

If you are unsure whether your child is well enough to attend school please phone the school office who will be pleased to help.

If you have any concerns over your child’s attendance please speak to your Class Teacher in the first instance.

Swimming Lessons – 6GL

As you are aware 6GL are due to start their swimming lessons in the next half term.  Please make sure your child has their swimming costume, swimming hat and towel ready.  We are hoping to confirm their start date shortly after half term, when Hamworthy Park swimming pool has been repaired. 6MF will catch up with their missed swimming sessions in the Summer Term.

Year 6 Residential

Thank you to those Year 6 parents who are chipping away at their balances.  Just a reminder that all monies should be received by 2nd May 2023, your outstanding balance can be seen on Scopay.  Please contact the school office if you have any queries. Next half term there will be a parent meeting to discuss the residential trip further. A date for this will be shared after half term.

Multi-Sports Club – Holiday Fun

There are still a few places left on the multisport club for half term.  If you are interested in taking up a place please contact Kevin Stacey, UK Skills Forum on 07974205066 or email kevin.stacey@ukskllsforum.co.uk

Breakfast and Tea Time Club

If you are a busy parent don’t forget we have our breakfast and tea time club available.  At a cost of £3.50 for breakfast club and £8.00 for tea time club.  This can be booked via scopay or the school office.  It’s a great way for your child to start their day with a healthy breakfast and time to chat to their friends before school.

There is now a doorbell on the hall door for entrance to the club, please make sure your child is signed in and out with a member of staff.

World Book Day

World Book Day should be on Thursday 2nd March. However, this is also due to be the second day of teacher strikes. Therefore, we have made the decision to move it to Friday 3rd March. Further information about this will be sent out to parents after half term. One activity that will be taking place is the Book Swap. Please start thinking about which books you have at home that could be brought in to swap.

Thank you for all your effort this half term, especially with regard to improving attendance. It hasn’t gone unnoticed. Have a restful half term and we look forward to welcoming back the pupils on Tuesday, 21st February at 8.30 am. A reminder that Monday the 20th February is a staff Inset Day.
