June Newsletter

Dear Parents and Friends

Welcome back to the last term of the academic year. I hope you all enjoyed a lovely half term with your children.

Today the children spent time thinking about the people affected by the terrible events in London. The ‘Newsround’ website www.bbc.co.uk/newsround offers appropriate information as well as information for children who may be upset by what has happened or indeed any of the other things that are happening in the world at the moment.

Staff news

We welcome Mr Richard Claxton to the staff team. Mr Claxton joins us as our new Deputy Headteacher from Parkfield School in Bournemouth. Mr Claxton will be working with us on Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays until the end of term and full-time from September. We hope he will very much enjoy his time at Hillbourne Primary School.

Parents in Year 1 will know that Mrs Hayward has been unwell over the last few weeks. I am delighted that Mrs Hayward is now much better and intending to be back in school on Thursday as usual.

Sports Day

The weather has certainly taken a turn for the worse since the gloriously sunny days of the Sports Days. Thank you to all of you who were able to join us to support and encourage your children. Thanks to Miss Hines and Mr Hickson for their organisation and to the Heart of Hillbourne for providing much appreciated refreshments.

We are now reviewing the way that we ran the Sports Days so any comments or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Class photos

Fraser Portraits will be in school on Thursday 8th June to take class photos across the school.

Den Day

A reminder that the children will be celebrating Save the Children’s ‘Den Day’ on Friday 16th June. Thank you for the donations that you have already sent in. If you are able to spare any old balls of string/ wool or clothes pegs, we would be very grateful.

We have included a sponsor form here if you would like to make a donation to support this cause.

With best wishes

Yours Sincerely

Helen Roderick
