23rd April 2019

Dear Parents and Friends

Welcome back to the Summer term!

I hope that you all had a relaxing holiday and were able to enjoy the sunshine. The forecast is a little more gloomy for our first week back at school, but the sun is still strong so please remember to send your children to school with a sunhat and full water bottle. Please also apply suntan lotion to any exposed skin on your child before sending them in each day.

Staff News

A warm welcome to Mrs Jo Judge who will be teaching 2VB until the end of the year. We hope that Mrs Judge greatly enjoys her time here with us at Hillbourne.

We are hugely grateful to Mrs Kellaway and Miss Meredith for their work with 2VB in the last half term. Miss Meredith will now return to working with 1EQ on Thursdays and Fridays and Mrs Kellaway will return to her work in Years 3 and 4.

We are also delighted to welcome back Mrs Stickley who has been very unwell over the last month.

Mrs Sheppard is sadly not yet well enough to return to work. We send her our warmest wishes for a speedy recovery.

We are delighted to hear that Mrs Sibley getting better and very much hope that she will be well enough to return to work after the half term break. In the meantime, 5SW continue to benefit from Mrs Allisett’s care and guidance.

Value

Our new value this term is ‘Determination’. We will be talking to the children about how they can achieve great things by not giving up!

Please do recognise your children’s determination at home and let us know if you have been particularly impressed by something they have achieved by showing great determination and would like it recognised in school.

Uniform

The children looked really smart in their full school uniform today.  Thank you for making this possible.

Please remember that children should be wearing black shoes to school.

Attendance

At the end of last term, we were delighted to award 51 children with certificates for 100% attendance since September 2018. This is the best ever!

We also awarded a further 51 children certificates for attending school every single day in the Spring Term.

Regular attendance is important not only for academic progress and success, but in forming and maintaining friendships and feeling settled in school. We do understand that children are prone to illnesses and that absence can sometimes not be avoided. Please do talk to us if you have any concerns about your child’s attendance so we can help where possible.

Clubs

All clubs start next week, except Karate which starts this Friday. Places have been allocated to children who have returned forms. If you do not hear otherwise, you can presume your child has a place in their chosen Club/s.

Dates for the term
